Study on Industry and Market Prospect of SUGAR In Indonesia, 2016

The Crystal White Sugar (GKP) was very depended on sugarcane land area while in 2011 – 2015 the sugarcane land area grew 4.64% per year. In 2011 the total land area of 432,830 hectares increased to 517,776 hectares in 2015. On the other hand, the domestic production rate for the last periode decreased to 3.27% per year, namely at 66,7 tons per hectare in 2011, then at 56,8 ton per hectare in 2015.

Meanwhile, domestic sugar consumption in 2011 comprising of people direct consumption at 2.65 million tons, food industry at 915 thousand tons, baverage at 624 thousand tons, pharmacy industry at 151 thousand tons and other at 186 thousand tons. Then in 2015, people direct consumption at 2.89 million tons, food industry at 1.27 million tons, baverage at 879 thousand tons, pharmacy industry at 245 thousand tons and others at 98 thousand tons.

Whereas, domestic sugar consumption for next five year is projected to flourish at 6.18% per year. In 2016, the total consumption will rearch 5.69 million tons. In the other hand, in 2020 people direct consumption is projected at  3.23 million tons, food industry at 1.93 million tons, baverage at 1.39 million tons, pharmacy industry at 451 thousand tons and others at 222 thousand tons.
